編輯推薦: 這是一本用英文介紹英美兩國各方面情況的書(shū)，原為河南大學(xué)外語(yǔ)系英美概況課教材。在1984年10月召開(kāi)的審稿會(huì )上，來(lái)自復旦大學(xué)、南京大學(xué)、武漢大學(xué)、華中師范學(xué)院、西南師范學(xué)院、洛陽(yáng)解放軍外國語(yǔ)學(xué)院等20所大專(zhuān)院校的代表對原稿進(jìn)行了審議。自1985年出版以來(lái)，已三次增訂多次印刷，作者本著(zhù)與時(shí)俱進(jìn)的精神，經(jīng)廣泛征求修改意見(jiàn)，完成了第四版增訂，現予以再版，以供需要。
內容簡(jiǎn)介: 《英美概況》和單科教材的不同點(diǎn)是其跨度大，涉及面廣，有橫斷面，也有縱深軸線(xiàn)。
該書(shū)于1988年修訂過(guò)一次，1995年根據需要再次修訂。第三版修訂仍沿用一、二版的基本框架，仍采用先英后美的順序，以時(shí)空概念為坐標，內容以樹(shù)狀結構組合，橫向展開(kāi)英美社會(huì )的方方面面，縱向追溯其運動(dòng)軌跡?？v橫結合，互相補充。恰如影像中使用的變焦距和搖鏡頭技巧，既可以沿縱向軸線(xiàn)遠近移動(dòng)，又可以根據需要橫向展開(kāi)，這樣一縱一橫，需要講述的內容也就各入其位了。
這次修訂仍采用先英后美的順序。美國的前身是英國人建立的殖民地，時(shí)間長(cháng)達150年之久，美國人價(jià)值觀(guān)、政體、法律和主流文化都受英國很大影響，因此，講述英國就是直接或間接地為講述美國社會(huì )做準備。
