內容簡(jiǎn)介:　　“朗文詞典”是世所公認的品牌詞典，自出版以來(lái)，一直深受世界各地讀者的青睞。2004年，商務(wù)印書(shū)館與培生教育出版集團亞洲有限公司達成協(xié)議，決定在中國內地聯(lián)合推出“朗文詞典系列”，即《朗文當代英語(yǔ)大辭典》(Longman Dictionary of Language and Culture)、《朗文英語(yǔ)發(fā)音詞典》(Longman Pronunciation Dictionary)、《朗文無(wú)師自通英語(yǔ)詞典》(Longman Wordwise Dictionary)、《朗文袖珍英語(yǔ)詞典》(Longman Pocket English Dictionary)、《朗文袖珍英語(yǔ)聯(lián)想詞典》(Longman Pocket Activator)、《朗文袖珍英語(yǔ)短語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞詞典》(Longman Pocket Phrasal Verbs Dictionary)、《朗文袖珍英語(yǔ)習語(yǔ)詞典》(Longman Pocket Idioms Dictionary)等。其中，《朗文當代英語(yǔ)大辭典》具影響力，它把英語(yǔ)學(xué)習詞典與百科全書(shū)功能合二為一?！独饰挠⒄Z(yǔ)發(fā)音詞典》作為一部專(zhuān)業(yè)性的發(fā)音詞典，將會(huì )對我國英語(yǔ)語(yǔ)音教學(xué)產(chǎn)生積極的影響?！独饰臒o(wú)師自通英語(yǔ)詞典》注重“產(chǎn)出”(production)，突出“無(wú)師自通”(wordwise)的特色，是培生新近推出的一部品牌學(xué)習詞典。我們相信，這個(gè)全新的朗文詞典系列必將受到我國學(xué)生、英語(yǔ)教師及廣大英語(yǔ)使用者的喜愛(ài)。

作者簡(jiǎn)介:　　J.C.Wells occupies the Chair of Phonetics in the University of London. He was born in Lancashire in 1939. Both at school and as an undergraduate at Cambridge he specialized in Classics， but switched to phonetics as a postgraduate at University College London， where he became a member of the academic staff in 1962. There he teaches English phonetics， both to native speakers and to EFL learners， as well as general phonetics and phonology and the phonetics of various other languages.
